The Comic in Science
Abstract
The paper analyses the comic’s role in science. The author associates the comic as well as tragedy with the existential aspirations of scientists. This gives rise to a different view of the phenomena which form a certain scientific theory. The comic is approached as a creative factor bringing science and the living world together. In the paper attention is paid to the insularity of scientific theories, scientific criteria, such as scientific jargon and propaganda, to the inertia of scientists’ thinking. According to the author, existential aspira-tions, which influence formation of scientists’ theoretical viewing, help to cope with all that. The scientific viewing is approached as a certain view affected by a historic and social environment, and scientific facts are regarded as statements in which we often blindly trust. Scientific phenomena are interpreted from the phenomenological hermeneutical perspective: they are perceived only as integral parts of the harmonious whole which widen the viewing field. Science is treated as a part of culture – human existential creation. The alternation of scientific theories is interpreted as a masquerade of different views renewing science.
